  Joining JW's using the 'bait - n - switch' method

  i used to work in advertising, and more specifically, with automotive dealers.

  a lot of them are notorious (even though it's illegal) for the 'bait-n-switch' sales tactic: they advertise one loaded model car, customer calls in and is interested in that particular advertised model, the dealer claims to have it and so the customer stops in to drive it, and then bam!

  dealers suddenly doesn't have the advertised model but offers the customer another low-end model for apprx the same price.. for some reason that reminds me of how people come into the jw religion.

  During the time that you are studying you can say anything you want ask any question you never think it's going to end the concentration is on the paradise earth the resurrection you don't talk about the carnage at armageddon if you were not raised in the org you don't know about important issues like 1975 why would you so you don't ask about it . definately bait n switch you sign on for something completely different than what you get.

  I Just Ran Into a Former Bible Student And He Was (Sadly) Shocked About Me

  i studied with this guy for years.

  he believed it was the "truth" although a few things weren't right with him.

  he asked me how business, family, being an elder was and he was flabbergasted when i told him i was divorced and had left the religion.

  since I left I have 4 friends besides my husband one is a women who came in when I did and left the same time same person studied with us as well the other 3 are bible studies that never became witnesses I never pushed them to commit and now were all glad about that.

  What I hate most about missing the meetings...

  ...is when people ask why i wasn't there.

  usually i tell them, that i was sick, or not feeling well, which for the most part is true.

  what is irritating is when someone presses it, especially someone you are closer with in the congregation.

  Meetings? What are you talking about ? I don't know anything about any meetings. just play dumb to the whole affair I'm sorry you must have the wrong person I've never seen you before anyway "have a nice day" it's so tempting to try something like that.

  ...about why i do not want to come back (get reinstated), but i find myself defending my decision!.

  i say this because an old friend of mine sent me a text late last night, asking me if i'm 'back so we can talk'?!

  let me give you a lil background story, this girl is developmentally challenged, 36yrs old, can't hold down a job, drive, nor live alone.

  What I especially hate is that dewy eyed pained look you get when you tell them you will never be back. I know what their thinking its I don't want you to be slaughtered at armageddon well thanks for the concern

  Spring Assembly - The Time is Reduced

  i'm back from the spring assembly, theme "the time left is reduced", 1 corinthians 7:29. the presentations were smug in the face of a torrent of world wide tough news stories.

  these should be the glory days for the assemblies.

  however, attendance is down, significantly.
